The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet
There's a robot that can be found for any carpet type, whether it's low-pile or high-pile. These intelligent appliances can navigate your home automatically and pick up dirt and clean under furniture.
Many of them have advanced features, such as mapping, which helps them navigate your home and remember furniture place. They can also boost suction power to tackle dirtier areas.
iRobot Roomba 694"
The Roomba by iRobot is a budget-friendly robot vacuum that performs well on both plain flooring and low-pile floor carpet. It has a good suction and is able to clean all kinds of debris, but it struggles with larger particles like rice or sand. It does a good job cleaning pet hair but isn't as resistant to knots as premium Roomba models like the j7 and I6.
The Roomba is easy to use. It has a trio of buttons on its cover: 'Clean' starts a cleaning cycle, 'Dock' puts it back into its charging station and 'Spot Clean' initiates a targeted clean. It can be controlled via an app on your smartphone that lets you to schedule cycles, stop and start them and adjust settings. You can also pair it with smart home devices such as Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.
This vacuum cleaner is slower than some others, but can still reach most corners and crevices. It has a big bin which makes it much easier to empty. It is compatible with virtual barriers and digital mapping that let you restrict it to certain areas or stop cleaning altogether in order to prevent it from getting stuck on something.
It's not the most effective in its price, however it's superior to other models. The Roborock E4 is more advanced than the Roomba 694 with better cleaning performance on carpets with low and no pile. It also has an efficient cleaning route and has longer battery life. It is also more robust, has fewer parts that require regular maintenance, and costs less over its lifetime, and charges faster than 694.
It's also worth looking at other, more premium models in the iRobot range, such as the 981 or the v7. The 981 and v7 are more expensive, but offer significant improvement in cleaning efficiency, for both bare and low pile floors. They also have a bigger dirt compartment and charge faster, move more easily, and are easier to pair up with smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This self-emptying robot with a budget does an okay job on hard floors and carpets with a low pile. Its combination brush gets into corners and edges and it automatically increases suction when it detects carpet. It also does a great job of cleaning dirt off carpets in the middle of the pile. The IQ's small footprint for docks and the self-emptying feature are nice touches. If you wish to alter the floor's levels or define no-go areas, you'll need to manually reset the map.
The IQ's app has some advanced mapping and automation capabilities but it's missing no-go zones which are included on iRobot models. Its smart-pathing system allows for greater maneuverability and the high-pile feature of its carpet cleaning mode is very effective, although it can get caught on rug tassels.
In our tests in our tests, the IQ was capable of handling pet hair effectively, clearing an impressive amount of debris from bare floors and moderate amounts from medium-pile carpet. It was a little less effective on shag carpet, where it struggled to reach dirt and dust buried in the fibers. It was able to navigate chair legs, small spaces and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a little slower on flooring that was not fully covered but it was able to recover speed and was more efficient than the other robots that we evaluated.
The IQ is a better choice than the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on a charge and does a better job of getting around obstacles. It has mopping tools that can remove sticky mess. On the other hand, the iRobot is more durable and has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance and incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, and can create virtual no-go zones through its companion app. It is able to continue cleaning from where it left off, even if its battery runs out before it has finished. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice, which can be a big plus for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S by eufy isn't exactly the most feature-rich robot vacuum on the market however it offers powerful cleaning capabilities at an affordable price. It's a budget-friendly option for buyers who don't need a complicated mapping system or app to control the device. The robot can run for a long time and includes a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek with an upper deck of tempered glass that covers plastic finished to look like brushed aluminum. It's a nice aesthetic contrast to Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more practical and industrial.
The eufy11S performed well in our tests of removing larger particles and fine dust from floors. It was unable to thoroughly clean carpets with high and medium piles. The device is prone to hit people and furniture in its path. However, it is able to detect obstacles with sensors. When it encounters them, it stops and lets out a loud beep so you can manually steer it around the obstacle and then get it back to work.
The BoostIQ mode is a great feature of the eufy11S. It lets you configure the robot to automatically adjust the suction force based on the type of floor and the amount of the mess. It's also easy to use the remote to direct the 11S in the direction you'd like it to go.
If you don't have a lot of furniture in the space where you'd like to vacuum Single Room Mode is an excellent option. The eufy will take 30 minutes intensely cleaning the area it's assigned.
You can also select Edge Cleaning, which limits the amount of time in each area to 20 minutes for maximum battery life. By selecting this option, the eufy will move in a spiral fashion, tackling corners and edges for an efficient clean.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range robot vacuum that can be a great performer on carpet. Its performance on floors that are not bare is also impressive. It can pick up rice and other small particles with ease. The suction power doesn't decrease as the dirt bin fills. Its allergy-friendly design and air-sealed body traps allergens and keeps your family healthy. It comes with an onboard HEPA filter and a self-emptying dustbin, which means you don't have to buy additional filters or a separate vacuum bag.
It's not as powerful as the more expensive models, but it's still ideal for fighting staining and deep cleaning. The two cameras on the front of the unit provide live feeds of images on your smartphone, and it has one of the top obstacle avoidance systems we've seen. It has a large bin, an extended runtime and an easy, bump-free clean-up.
The Complete C1 is unlike most robots in that it can switch between a standard head and a turbo to suit different types of flooring. The turbo head is great for carpeting that is here high-pile and low-pile, while the standard powerhead can be used on floors that are unfinished and light rugs. The volume of noise produced by this model is greater than other models. However, its powerful motor with 1,200 watts of power and robust construction are worth the additional cost.
If you're willing to spend a bit more, the Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-around canister robot vacuum that is more effective on carpet than the Classic C1. It performs better on any type of flooring and is built more securely and comes with an HEPA filter.
